The 1st rule of forecasting is that all forecasts are wrong... but that doesn't mean we shouldn't strive for excellence in our forecasting capabilities.

Here's the truth about WFM vendor forecasting: while it's often positioned as a key selling point, most automated forecasting capabilities are surprisingly basic. Having implemented and evaluated numerous WFM solutions across my 20+ years in the industry, I've found many fall short in fundamental areas - data input flexibility, functionality depth, and output reliability. In fact, a well-structured Excel model can often outperform these "automated" solutions.
